“Aging Safely: Preventing Elder Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation” was presented on Saturday, June 4th, 2016 at the William Way Community Center as part of the LGBTEI’s Conversations series of educational forums. The presenters at the program were: Joe Snyder, Director of Older Adult Protective Service at Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA); Dana Goldberg, Project S.A.F.E (Stop Abuse and Financial Exploitation) Coordinator at the SeniorLAW Center; Diane Menio, Executive Director of C.A.R.I.E. (Center for Advocacy for the Rights and Interests of the Elderly); and Dr. John Liantonio, Geriatrician and Palliative Care Physician at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Program attendees learned about the various types of elder abuse and neglect, the warning signs of abuse, and the resources available in the community to prevent and combat cases of abuse and neglect.
