Peter R. Abraldes

Peter’s passion for advocacy started in 2013, while working at the law firm of Lyman & Ash. There he worked on one of the first cases challenging Pennsylvania’s ban on same-sex marriage and helping the firm develop the Legal Advisory Council for the the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC).

As the Director of Operations at NursePartners, he focuses on the elder community in and around Philadelphia. He currently helps new clients and their families learn about NursePartners’ traditional home care, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia division, and facility staffing series. NursePartners’ was the first Pennsylvania home care company to certify carepartners in the SAGE LGBT sensitivity training.

As part of NuresPartners, Peter co-founded the National Aging in Place Council (NAIPC).  NAIPC is a network of vetted service providers that help older adults find access to quality care. The council was created to assist older adults finding affordable care, even if they do not qualify for public assistance.

Peter was invited to be on the LGBT EI board, where he actively advocates for older adults. He wants to ensure that older adults can continue being themselves, even if circumstances lead them to move into an assisted living community or nursing home.

Peter attended the University of Pittsburgh for his undergraduate education. He spent years studying, working, and volunteering in Argentina and Brazil, but is glad to be back in Philadelphia since 2013.  Peter is currently seeking a master’s degree in Applied Statistics through Penn State.
