Better Serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Populations in a Health Care Setting

June 30, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Dr. Rachel Levine, Physician General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine will address webinar participants and join Dr. Lindsay Schwartz, Senior Director of Workforce and Quality Improvement for the American Health Care Association in presenting this award-winning in-service training webinar to educate and assist medical staff on how to meet the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) residents and patients in a health care setting.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. To understand the needs of the LGBT community.
2. To respect each person’s uniqueness as part of our commitment to deliver person—centered care.
3. To enhance our ability to effectively listen, respond, and provide care to all residents regardless of personal feelings, beliefs, and values.

PHCA and our members share a commitment to the highest level of care to ensure that our sickest, frailest elderly and disabled residents live a healthy, safe life and age with the dignity and respect they deserve. To achieve this, it is important that staff are educated and mindful of how to address the unique needs of the LGBT community. The importance of this focus spans across the health care industry and as such, PHCA is happy to open this educational offering to the public.

The National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) has approved this webinar for two (2) continuing education credits for Nursing and Nursing Home, Assisted Living and Personal Care Administrators. Credit certificates will be emailed to webinar participants within 24 hours following the live presentation.
