National HIV & Aging Awareness Day: Gettin’ Older with HIV
September 18, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
FreeNational HIV & Aging Awareness Day (NHAAD) is held each year on September 18th to call attention to the challenges that older Americans face in terms of HIV prevention, testing, care, and treatment. While medical care for HIV has improved greatly over the past decades, people living with HIV still face unique health risks and co-morbid conditions as they grow older.
Join us on September 18th for a NHAAD luncheon featuring Dr. John Liantonio, a geriatrician at Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Liantonio will present on the potential health risks of aging with HIV and discuss the ways that older adults living with HIV can maintain their independence and successfully manage their social, emotional and physical health needs at any age.
This program is free and open to the public. Light lunch and refreshments will be served. Tokens will be provided to cover travel costs.
“Gettin’ Older with HIV” is presented by the LGBT Elder Initiative. Support for this program is provided by the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s HIV & Aging Task Force.
