What type of health care would you want if you became too sick to tell your doctors yourself? At some point in your life, a medical crisis could leave you unable to communicate with your providers about the types of medical treatment that you would or would not want to receive.

This month’s “Doctor Is In” program will provide an introduction to advance care planning, the process of making plans for the health care you want to receive during a serious illness or medical emergency. Geriatricians from the Department of Family & Community Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital will provide an overview of the advance care planning process, including discussion of important health care decisions and how to document them.
