The Doctor Is In: Caring for your Mental Health
November 28 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pmFree
Life changes that take place as we get older may affect our mental health, causing feelings of uneasiness, stress, and sadness. Losing loved ones and relationships, experiencing grief, and dealing with the effects of chronic illnesses can all impact our emotional well being. While experiencing some emotional stress is a normal part of aging, older adults also face an increased risk of depression. Depression is a treatable medical decision but often goes unreported or misdiagnosed, especially among older adults.
Join the LGBT Elder Initiative and Jefferson Health for this month’s “Doctor Is In” program to discuss mental health and aging. We’ll explore ways that we can all take better care of our mental health and emotional wellness. We will also discuss the signs and symptoms of depression and the resources available to those who are in need of additional support for their mental health.
