A balanced and nutritious diet is good for your health at any age but is especially important in keeping you healthy as you grow older. Getting the right nutrients in the appropriate amounts can strengthen your immune system and your body’s ability to fight off certain infections and illnesses. Eating well can help you to live longer, maintain your independence, and improve your quality of life.
Join the LGBT Elder Initiative and Jefferson Health for this month’s “Doctor Is In” program to learn about nutrition and healthy eating. We’ll learn about the nutrients to include in our daily food intake and discuss ways of making food choices that promote healthy aging. We’ll also discuss ways to shop for healthier foods and to prepare nutritious meals on a budget.
