The Doctor Is In: Stroke Prevention
September 13 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Strokes are the leading cause of long-term disability in the United States. The risk of experiencing a stroke increases as we get older. Fortunately, most strokes are preventable through healthy lifestyle changes and controlling the health conditions that raise the risk of stroke. Additionally, being able to identify the warning signs of a stroke and react quickly can reduce the severity of a stroke’s impact.
Join the Elder Initiative and Jefferson Health for this month’s “Doctor Is In” program to learn about the causes, symptoms, complications, and treatment of strokes. We will discuss the lifestyle factors that can help prevent stroke as well as the medical conditions that impact our risk level. We’ll also learn about the treatment and rehabilitation options to help one recover after a stroke.
