The Doctor Is In Understanding Hospice and Palliative Care
April 10, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Free
Dorrance H. Hamilton Building, Room 505
Hospice and palliative care are services that may be available for individuals experiencing a serious illness. These services can provide emotional support for individuals and their loved ones, as well as medical treatments that can ease pain, address symptoms, and improve one’s quality of life. Yet, there are many misconceptions about hospice and palliative care that prevent people from utilizing these services. Learning about the treatment options that are available can help us make educated decisions about what we want, or don’t want, as part of our medical care.
Join the LGBT Elder Initiative and Jefferson Health for this month’s “Doctor Is In” program to learn about hospice and palliative care. We will discuss the differences between hospice and palliative care, the services covered as part of each, and how and when to access these treatment options.
