Nearly one out of three people in the United States will have cancer in their lifetimes, with the large majority of cancers diagnosed in people over the age of 50. While there are lifestyle changes that reduce some of the risks of cancer, other risk factors cannot be changed. However, there are many screening procedures that can detect certain cancers early when they will be easier to treat. Most cancers are curable when they are identified early, making screening and early detection critical.

Join the LGBT Elder Initiative and Jefferson Health for this month’s “Doctor Is In” webinar to learn about cancer screenings. We’ll discuss the recommended screenings for certain types of cancer, including colorectal, breast, prostate, cervical, and lung cancer. We’ll learn about how these screenings work, when they should be completed, and any risks associated with these procedures.
