Over 34 million people in the United States will provide unpaid care to an older adult this year. While these caregiving roles are frequently filled by family members, many LGBT individuals also provide care to friends and “families of choice.” Caregiving is not an easy task and many individuals struggle to balance work, relationships, and self-care among all of their caregiving responsibilities. The stress of caregiving can take a significant toll on one’s mental and physical health.

Join the LGBT Elder Initiative and Jefferson Health for this month’s “Doctor Is In” program to discuss caregiving of older adults. We’ll talk about ways that caregivers can take care of their health and wellness while also meeting the needs of their loved ones. Presenters will share information and resources on how to stay engaged, healthy, and happy as a caregiver.

-This program is free and open to the public
-Snacks and beverages will be served
-SEPTA reimbursement will be provided to cover travel costs

Support for this program is provided by Jefferson Health and the William Way Community Center.
